Belfair
The entrance to Belfair, a half-mile drive under a canopy of century-old, moss-draped live oaks, is as grand and dramatic an entry to be found at any community. The Avenue of the Oaks, planted in 1811 when Belfair was originally established as a country estate and working plantation, sets the tone perfectly for a community that epitomizes the natural, stunning beauty of the Lowcountry.
Located in Bluffton, South Carolina, about six miles from Hilton Head Island, the 1,100-acre private golf club community is nestled on the banks of the Colleton River and is graced with scenic salt marsh views and abundant wildlife—much the same as the original plantation residents enjoyed. Today’s residents are privileged to watch the native wood storks of Belfair’s Hidden Lake—the largest conservancy of these rare birds in the Southeast.
Our mission at Belfair was to preserve the natural grandeur of the place while providing the finest amenities befitting this spectacular setting. Those include two Tom Fazio golf courses, a 29-acre practice center, a family activity center (with fitness areas, indoor and outdoor pools and a tennis center), a basketball court, picnic area and playground, and championship croquet courses.
A grand 25,000-sq. ft. clubhouse serves members, as do a number of specialized amenities, including nature trails. The Belfair Towne Village, at the outer edge of the community, offers residents easy access to a supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants and other shops.
